Difference between repository database backup and backup made using Informatica Administrator?

What is the difference between repository database backup (using e.g Oracle backup command) and a backup made using Informatica Administrator (Actions --> Repository Contents --> Backup)?

Backup taken using Informatica Admistrator can be used to restore the repository contents in any other database type (eg. Sql server). The tool will take care of the metadata contents according to the target database server/Informatica domain.

Oracle backup command will keep the data intact and you may hit problems when you try to restore and add the repository in another domain.

There are less chances of metadata corruption if you use the Informatica Administrator to backup/restore the metadata.

Informatica using Oracle database

We are bulkloading few of our target Oracle tables. Many of our tables had one column with datatype timestamp(6) with local time zone. when we insert just the date value(mm-dd-yyyy) then target database is defaulting the hh:mi:ss to 11:00:00 PM. But when we make the load type as normal then the it is inserting 12:00:00 AM in hh:mi:ss part. Could someone explain why this is happening?

Informatica Repository Query to get Workflow, Session, Mapping and Source/Target of Mapping

For cleaning up unused IPC-Sources I need a Repository Query for getting Workflow, Session, Mapping and Source/Target of Mapping.I have startet by joining REP_LOAD_SESSIONS and REP_TBL_MAPPING on mapping_id but only a fraction of mappings seem to be present in the joined output. I can't find the right tables to join to get the job done. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Informatica Repository Query to get Lookup Connection

Within Informatica I have a Mapping which uses a unconnected lookup. This Mapping I use in a Session wherein I define a Relational DB connection for this lookup transformation.

Now, which repository tables will I have to query to get the connection names for all my lookups in my sessions? I tried REP_SESS_WIDGET_CNXS, but there are only connection names for sources and targets of my sessions.

Any idea on this one?

SQL Server repository for informatica powercenter

I have a powercenter 9.1 installation on windows server 2008 R2. The repository is on the same box, hosted on sql server 2012. I have configured a new user (with sql server authentication) and have the repo db owned by that user. (it has the owner role)

The core problem : I am not able to run a simple test workflow on this setup.

Here's what I have been trying

The windows firewall has been taken down now for about an hour or so.

The repository service and integration service are running in trace/debug mode respectively.

The integration service log complains that it cant find a certain session for a certain workflow in certain folder (with ids for all of them).

When I log into sql server mgmt console, and try to query the repository tables for those exact items (since i have the ids from logs), all the data is present...

I fail to understand what is that I am messing up

...
