1.HSS (Home Subscriber Server) is used to authenticate the user when user tries to attach on a network while SPR (Subscriber Profile Repository) keep tracks of the subscriber profile/policies related to quota/QoS

2.HSS is connected to MME (Mobility Management Entity) and SPR is connected to PCRF (Policy and Charging Rules Functions).

3. In a very simple language we can say that HSS is something that stores the data like what plan you have likewise, we have are subcribed for particular network with the plan of 350 minutes and 2GB internet for a month. However SPR is something that stores the dynamic details with respect to the plan we are subcribed for likewise on 7th day of a month we have used 70 calling minutes and 400 mb of internet and on 12th day of a month we have used total 110 minutes and 1GB of internet etc.

HSS and SPR both are subscribers repository.

HSS is used to authenticate the user when user tries to attach onto a network.

SPR keep tracks of the subscriber profile/policies related to quota/QoS

HSS is connected to MME over S6a interface and SPR is connected to PCRF over Sp interface.

Some operator keep a single box for HSS and SPR
