CTS plans/packages not executing for x86 build and device

I am building from the android source using "4.2.2_r1.2" and I am seeing issues while executing CTS plans/packages for a x86 build on an "Intel Atom X86" based AVD device. It says "Not executed" for all tests with no success and failures. However, I have been successfully executing these plans/packages for an ARM build and device. Is there something extra required to execute CTS plans/packages for an x86 build and device?

The issue was fixed by creating an SD card image for the X86 AVD device. For an ARM AVD device this worked without an SD card image.

We have some native code that was doing a xmpp ping every 12 minutes, and if a ping didn't happen til 5 minutes after the device went to sleep, the GSM connection would silently drop.
If we change our ping interval to something like 4 minutes, the GSM connection will stay up even after the device goes to sleep.
My question is are the rules for how the GSM radio and sleeping documented anywhere? Are the rules changed by Manufacturer or by Carrier?
