I want to be able to run a specific php version with apache. So uninstalled apache and php then installed apache, and then built php from source to have the right version.

Now In the browser when i put an html file it works but php files do not. Can someone tell me how to link my php with apache without upgrading my php?

And ... are the correct modules being loaded, configuration updated appropriately, and apache restarted?

Is it possible to use PHP 5.2.5 with Apache/2.4.6?

I have an application that was written in WAMP5 using PHP 5.2.5, and I am trying to get the application onto a CentOS server and I can't get it to work with 5.4.16.

Are there any good tutorials on using an older version of PHP with Apache?

I run an instance of apache under OS X which I use to pass data to PHP scripts using ajax. If I have a string such as "O'Toole" (without the double-quotes), then when the string (which I pass through encodeURIComponent in the browser) arrives in the PHP script, the single-quote is prefixed with a backslash. That is, the string above becomes "O'Toole".

I want my app to run under Win7, and I observe that there, the backslash is *not* inserted. This difference is a bit irritating, especially as I am having trouble discovering which component (browser, apache, PHP) is adding the backslash. On the whole, I'd rather not have it, but I'd settle for both platforms adding it. Then at least code common to both platforms can remove it.

I have some doubts about pool of connections with my application developed in PHP. I want optimize the use of resources and database connections has a high computational cost. So the idea is keep a pool of open connections with database.
I'm using Apache webserver, language PHP and PostgreSQL database. In this case the pool of conections must be configured on Apache, PHP or PostgreSQL?

I am trying to figure out if I can run my sessionpersistence script that I run with Apache to see if sessions persist between two tomcat sites on two separate servers. The load balancer has session persistence enabled but Iam unsure how to test it. My thought was that I would just add the following php script to check, but apparently I am doing something wrong. The script is this:

but it seems not to like it if I add it from the webapps directory or from inside a directory under that. Is there some special trick to running php from inside tomcat ? I have tomcat set up the same on both servers and am fronting it with Apache if that adds options for me.

I've two machines set up with Apache2.4 and PHP5.4.15 and I'm trying to debug owncloud as it has problems with Apache2.4. This autoloader and routing 'fun' seems totally over the top, and is failing without giving any errors, but the question is "what limits the amount of text displayed using print_r() ?" Where I drop in a print statement causes crashes, but when working I'm not getting a complete printout. One machine is clipping at around 4500 characters, while the other is managing around 9000, and neither is displaying the 'TAG' labels after that block.

It's not something I've seen before ... I've been using this method for many years and normally see all the text. So can anybody throw light on why this may be happening now? Interestingly the two machines are giving different problems with this application which works correctly on Apache 2.2
