Release 5 HSDPA offers 10.8 MBPS speed, where as Rel'99 offers only 2.048 MBPS. Reason for Improvement in Rel5 over Release 99 are
1. Improved Channel Structure - (HS-DSCH and HS-SCCH added for downlink and HD-DPCCH added for uplink)
2. Improved Packet scheduling (MAC-HS)
3. Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC)
4. HARQ
