SAP is an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system by SAP AG, company based out of Walldorf in Germany. SAP software suite provides end to end solutions for financial, logistics, distribution, inventories. Present scenario large number of companies are using sap software for their day to day business activities.

Major Advantage of SAP
1. Flexibility.
2. Customized solutions to suit your business.
3. Highly integrated with other modules.
4. Industry specific modules with a deep insight.
5. Continuous support.

The major advantages of sap erp, is the HIGHLY INTEGRATION WITH OTHER MODULES OF BUSINESS, which is not there in other SOFT WARES. In other software, you need to have different software's for different module.

Now lets come to your Question Why SAP in IT industry
SAP does not have IT industry specific solution (http://go.sap.com/solution.html#solutionsbyindustry ) however it has telecom and healthcare specific solution. So dont know how should I answer your query with specifics. Please comment if looking for something different -

I am trying to get the Microsoft Connector for SAP BW ver 1.1 working in our environment. This is to push data into BW only not extract it. I have put the LibRFC.dll in place on the SQL server and can create a connection to BW. When I test the connection in SSIS it says OK so I know this bit is fine. When I do a test load I get an RFC failure. I have setup my Info cube and any necessary objects in BW. I have even looked on the gateway and can see the attempts but I need to interrogate the error at a lower level to find out what is going on. I am using SQL 2008 R2 with the Sap BW connector version 1.1. Can anybody offer me any help with this issue as its becoming quite critical.

I use several Microsoft Access databases on a regular basis to create reports. To get the source data, I currently have to log in to SAP BW (via SAP NetWeaver), run the source data report, export the results as a .csv file (but actually saving it as a .txt file), and then import that file into Microsoft Access. Is there a way that I can have Access pull the data from SAP BW directly?
