S6B is between PGW and AAA, it is diameter based interface, where as SGi interface connects the PGW to a external network i.e. PDN. So both are serving different needs.

I hope I understood your query correctly.

I read some where, SGI is also connected between PGW and AAA. S6B is also between PGW and AAA.
What is the specific purpose for this two interface.
Hello Rakesh, As Salil mentioned above SGi interface is between PGW and external IP network while S6B is interface between PGW and AAA server. S6B interface comes into picture when UE connected to LTE network moves to non-3GPP access like wifi PGW authenticates the UE by using the AAA server.
One is 3gpp one is not

Why Diameter server(AAA) is needed for authentication - authorizaion messages AAR , AAA, ACR, ACA messages in order to authenticate if authentication/security is done at MME/eNB/HSS while attach.? Could you please explain in detail?

This regarding the sessions b/w the PGW and PCRF.

Lets say we have 2 default bearers(DEF1, ad DEF2) for UE1, and 2 dediicated bearers for each of these Default bearers. And for UE2 assume 2 def bearers, DEF3, and DEF4.

Now a CCR is sent for initial default bearer DEF1 creation for UE1. Lets say session(session1) is created for this. with CCRequest number=0.
For Ded bearer1 creation, will it use the same session Id ? and increment the CCRNumber ?
What about the UE2?

I am new to Diameter and earlier, these things were internal and didnot need diameter interface. So the questions are arising.
