Three people check into a hotel. They pay Rs.30 to the manager and go to their room. The manager suddenly remembers that the room rate is Rs.25 and gives Rs.5 to the Room boy to return to the people. On the way to the room the Room boy reasons that Rs.5 would be difficult to share among three people so he pockets Rs.2 and gives Rs.1 to each person. Now each person paid Rs.10 and got back Rs.1. So they paid Rs.9 each, Totaling Rs.27. The Room boy has Rs.2, totaling Rs.29. Where is the missing Rs.1?

The missing 1 rupee is with the hotel manager.
Dividing 25/3 = 8.33 rupees per person (but rounded off to 8 rupees)
So, when the room boy returns 1 rupee to each, the actual amount paid by each person is 9.33 rupees.
Remaining amount 0.66 rupee of each person is pocketed by the room boy (0.66 X 3 = 2 rupees).
