Height of the tower = h m
Initial velocity (u) = v m/s
Final velocity (v) = -3v m/s
Using Newton's third equation of motion : v² - u² =2as --> (3v)² - v² = 2*(-g)(-h) --> h = 4v²/g m

Then he descends with a net retardation of 2.5 m/s2 and strikes the ground with a velocity 5 m/s.

In a car race, car A takes 4 seconds less than car B at the finish and passes the finishing point with a velocity v more than the car B.
Assuming that the cars start from rest and travel with constant accelerations a1 = 4 ms^-2 and a2 = 1 ms^-2 respectively.
Find the velocity v in m/s.
