x = 55*t --- 1
55t + 20 = 40*t1 ---- 2
t1 + t = 5/3 hr ---- 3

substituting 3 in 2
55t + 20 = 40(5/3 - t)
55t + 40t = 40*(5/3) - 20
95t = 40*(5/3) - 20
19t = 40/3 - 4 = 28/3
t = 28/(19*3) hr
Total distance travelled = (2x + 20) Km = 2*((28/57)*55) + 20 = 54.0351 + 20 = 74.0351 Km. answer Jul 18, 2018
