6 or 18 Explanation as under
36-2-1-6-2-1-1=7+x^2 or x^2=16 leaving x to be +/- 4
for x^2- 1.5x-4 with x=4 the answer is 16-6-4=6
with x=-4 the answer is 16+6-4=18

Either 6 or -14, since x=±4
