side of square= 4 cm
so perimeter of cross=4*12 (boundary lines of cross) =48 cm

Perimeter of cross= outer sides of all four squares.
=3sidesx4squares
=3x4cmx4
=48cm
So Ans is 48cm

the perimeter is 48 cm
