First - thanks for the query. Loved it.
After a search on the net I came to know some countries which were named after people. I am providing a small list below.

  1. Bolivia - Simon Bolivar (Venezuelan military and political leader who played a leading role in the establishment of Venezuela, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Panama as sovereign states, independent of Spanish rule.)
  2. Colombia - Christopher Columbus (Was an Italian explorer, navigator and colonizer)
  3. Georgia - Saint George (was a Roman soldier and officer in the Guard of Roman emperor)
  4. Saudi Arabia - Muhammad Bin Saud (also known as Ibn Saud, was the emir of Ad-Diriyyah and is considered the founder of the First Saudi State and the Saud dynasty)
  5. USA - Amerigo Vespucci (was an Italian explorer, financier, navigator and cartographer)
