George III
A book of the two dozen or so calls was published in 1797. It included the Last Post, the Reveille and the Rouse, familiar in ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day ceremonies since the 20th century. The Last Post was sounded in camp to signal that the final sentry post had been inspected, and the camp was secure for the night, as well as (when occasion demanded) at the close of a day of battle to tell those who were still out and wounded or separated that the fighting was done, and to follow the sound of the call to find safety and rest.
