Regency
The sub-period called the Regency, defined by the Regency of George IV when he was Prince of Wales during the illness of his father George III (1811-1820), often including the short reign of King William IV (1830-1837), is part of the Georgian era. The Elizabethan era is associated with Queen Elizabeth I's reign (1558–1603); it is part of the Tudor period usually taken to refer to 1485 to 1603. The Stuart period refers to 1603 to 1714, the rule of the House of Stuart, whose first monarch was James VI of Scotland. The period ended with Queen Anne and the accession of George I from the House of Hanover.
