Why Alexander never returned empire after victory as he has done in case of Porus in India, can we assume that Alexander never defeated Porus and all the story is created by the historians?

Good observation, one catch here is Porus son name was also Porus. And alexander may have defeated the son and with the father porus it may have ended in stalmate or may be a defect for alexander and rest of the story was cooked up by his historian.
