Captain America is the alter ego of Steven “Steve" Rogers, a frail young man who was enhanced to the peak of human perfection by Super-Soldier serum (an experimental serum) to aid the Axis powers’(US in particular) efforts in World War II. Near the end of the war, he was trapped in ice and survived in suspended animation until he was revived in the present day. Captain America, remains to this day, a highly respected figure in his community which includes becoming the long-time leader of the Avengers.
In Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), american actor Chris Evans plays the role of Captain America.
