Mallika and Rahul Bose’s chemistry was just about perfect on screen which went down well with the audience.
Katrina Kaif – Namastey London (2007)
A some sort of a remake of Manoj Kumar’s yesteryear classic ‘Purab Aur Paschim’, this Vipul Shah film had Katrina Kaif playing a London-based bride who is forced to marry the Indian village bumpkin, Akshay Kumar due to family pressures. Though Katrina excelled in the role with a British accent, Akshay complimented her by playing a desi‘Punjab da puttar’. Katrina played the runaway bride in a few more films like ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani’, ‘Singh is Kinng’, ‘Humko Deewana Kar Gaye’, etc.
Kareena Kapoor – 3 Idiots (2009)
One of Kareena’s most memorable performances where she didn’t get overshadowed by the ‘3 Idiots’ played by Aamir Khan, Madhavan and Sharman Joshi, respectively. She is all decked up as a bride to marry Suhas when she escapes with Madhavan and Sharman to meet Aamir Khan alias Rancho in the film. Asin – Ready (2011)

Parineeti Chopra – Shuddh Desi Romance (2013)
Director Maneesh Sharma’s take on a live-in relationship which featured Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti Chopra and Vaani Kapoor in the lead. Parineeti who is all set to marry takes to the washroom where she lights a cigarette and escapes the mandap as she fears getting married and is happy to live in with someone she loves. The same act in the film is repeated by Sushant as the groom.
Alia Bhatt – Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014)
Alia Bhatt abandons her fiance only to marry Varun Dhawan in this rom-com. In her bridal wear, she simply hops onto a decorated truck and travels to the city where Varun stays. She meets Varun ala SRK style in DDLJ in the climax. ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ title was somewhat inspired by SRK’s ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’.
Sonam Kapoor – Dolly Ki Doli (2015)
Sonam Kapoor plays Dolly in ‘Dolly Ki Doli’, where she cons as a bride and runs away with all the booty from the groom's house. All this happens on the first night before she finally meets her match only to con him too. Featuring Varun Sharma, Raj Kumar Rao and Samrat Pulkit, this flick couldn’t really get the cash registers ringing at the box-office.
