A temporary table space is used for temporary objects such as sort structures while permanent tablespaces are used to store those objects meant to be used as the true objects of the database.

A temporary tablespace

It is used for temporary objects such as sort structures.

Permanent tablespaces

It is used to store those objects meant to be used as the true objects of the database.

temporary tablespaces are used for sorting operations

and

permanent tablespaces are tablespace that related to system
or sysaux datafile (system and sysaux are mandatory datafiles)
