The names are not very intuitive :(.

seamless handover is used for bearers transporting traffic that is very sensitive to delay and jitter and would rather accept packet loss/retransmission than delay, like VoIP.
While the lossless handover is used for bearers that transport traffic that does not care too much about delay but is sensitive to retransmissions, like FTP and HTTP.

As per my knowledge, seamless and lossless handover depends on the type bearer.
For example: Bearer used for FTP, uses lossless whereas bearer used for VoIP uses seamless handover.
Since FTP packet are large and it consumes more radio resources in case of re-transmission. where as VoiP packet are small and re-transmission of those small packet will not consume more radio resource.

In case of hub-and-spoke topology, X2 messaging can travel all the way back to an aggregation point, which may be co-located with EPC. In such scenario both X2 and S1 traverses same physical path (a.k.a X2 over S1). Please consider both Intra-MME and Inter-MME handover scenarios. Would X2 based handover in such a case yield advantage over S1 based handover. Thanks.
