npm version checking problem

while checking the version of npm in windows 10 a notification is showing in cmd
CALL "C:\Program Files\nodejs\node.exe" "C:\Program Files\nodejs\node_modules\npm\bin\npm-cli.js" prefix -g' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

Can anyone help me here what should i do to remove this error?
