Question about the http authentication when using the subversion api 1.8.13.

For example using the svn_client_list3' function: Everytime this function is called the first http request does not contain any Authorization header which leads to a 401 Authorization Required' response.

In my opinion this leads to an unnecessary delay when the function is called multiple times and the same credentials could be used.

When calling this function the svn_client_ctx_t contains an svn_auth_baton_t with set default username and default password parameters.

Now to my actual question:

Can this behaviour somehow be changed or is it just designed to work this way? I also know that the version I'm using is not the newest one so if you think an upgrade to a newer version could lead to some performance improvement please let me know.

We're developing webapp running on Tomcat 7. The apps use third-party components that we can't modify and those components connect to external sites using HTTP.

We have a policy of routing all outbound traffic through an authenticating HTTP proxy. This is a bit of problem for us since the Oracle Java 7 JVM doesn't support configuring proxy authentication on the JVM level (using e.g. system properties).

One possible workaround I could think of is to create a custom javaagent that would set a default in premain() method. This approach appears to work in a command line program that uses HttpURLConnection, but are there any potential caveats to this method when used with webapps running in Tomcat? One shortcoming is that the same Authenticator would be used for all webapps in the JVM, but this is something we can live with.

I'm trying to setup a forward proxy to access certain endpoints on Remote server which require https with basic authentication in header.

A(Application server) ---> Forward proxy (B) ----> Remote server(C)

i'm at B on which i have setup below Apache Virtual host in which i'm setting the headers to use basic authentication passing encoded value of user & pass configured on remote server.However,i want to include HTTPS in my request to C to ensure the headers are sent securely with encrption to remote server (C). I do Not want to use a separate Virtual host for HTTPS. Should i include a SSL Server certificate in my proxy configuration as given below with the basic authentication in header ?
How can i achieve this in Single virtual host ? I have limited knowledge on apache, so please help here.

I tried searching on the internet but did not find the required solution.

##### vHost 9099 is for basic auth with HTTPS #####
Listen *:9099
<VirtualHost *:9099>

        DocumentRoot    /my/doc/root/
        SSLEngine on
        RewriteEngine On
        AllowEncodedSlashes NoDecode

        ProxyRequests On

        # SSL configuration

        SSLCertificateFile       /Path to cert.pem
        SSLCertificateKeyFile    /Path to private key
        SSLCACertificateFile     /Path to CA certs

        ## Basic64 Encoded XXXX od user and passwd in header

         RequestHeader set Authorization "Basic XXXXX"

         ## Endpoints accessed via https with basic authentication in header

         ProxyPass /api/api1/
         ProxyPassReverse /api/api1/

I have a question about using a php user class and session variables. Let's say that I have managed to create a user class that finds a particular person from the database query.

As I move about the site from page to page it would be nice to be able to use the current user inside the user class without needing to re – look them up in the database multiple times

Q: so is there a way to combine the current active user in the class with session variables so that they can be used multiple times? If so, how would this work?
