As the Indian Premier League (IPL) has concluded, several cricket experts have given their take on some of the top players from last season. Former England manager Michael Vaughn revealed his top five batsman from the 13th season. Of the five, four were selected from the Mumbai Indians and one was taken from the Kings XL Punjab.
No. 5: KL Rahul
After Ravichandran Ashwin was traded to the Delhi Capitals, Rahul was named the captain of the Kings XL Punjab for the 2020 season. Even though Kings XL Punjab did not win the championship, Rahul was one of the reasons that the team was relevant among online cricket betting. In one match against the Royal Challengers, he scored an unbeaten 132 off 69 balls, which broke the record of most runs scored by an Indian batsman in an IPL match. The team did not make the playoffs, but he scored 670 runs in 14 innings with an average of 55.83.
No. 4: Quinton de Kock
The Proteas manager played 16 matches for the Mumbai Indians and secured 503 runs at a stellar strike-rate of 140.50. The left hander also scored four fifties in the 2020 season. He has played for the Indians since he was purchased from the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2019. He finished that season with some crucial knocks as the Indians won the 2019 final. That season he was the highest run scorer for the team.

No. 3: Kieron Pollard
Pollard became the first player to represent the Indians in 150 matches after he played his 11th season with the team. Last season, Pollard played a critical role in the Indians winning their fifth IPL title. He has the highest strike-rate of 192.42. In 2019, Pollard ended that championship run with 419 runs at a strike-rate of 163.0 and 28 sixes.
No. 2: Hardick Pandya
Pandya has played for the Indians since 2015. He started his career with Mumbai and retained in 2018 during the IPL Player Auction. The last two seasons have seen Pandya fly to new heights. In 2019, he played 16 matches and finished with 402 runs, 14 wickets, 28 fours, and 29 sixes. He was the Super Strikes of the Season with a strike rate over 170, finishing as the runner-up to Andre Russell. For his efforts, he was named the Cricinfo IPL in 2019.
No. 1: Surya Kumar Yadav
Vaughn considered Yadav to be the best overall player from the IPL 2020 season. Yadav was referenced for his “quick bowling,” while Vaughn referenced his ability to spin. Yadav began his IPL career with the Indians in 2012, but did not contribute right away. He was later bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders, where he spent 2014 to 2017. Consistently last decade, Yadav had one of the highest strike-rates in the league, which is why he was given the title for best batsman in the league. He was also one of the most clutch players in the league, which makes him a superstar when the spotlight is on.
