In the 19 Summer Olympics from 1936 to 2016 the USA men's team medalled in every one (except the 1980 Olympics in which the team did not participate), 15 of the medals being gold; in the 11 Summer Olympics from 1976 to 2016 the women's USA team again medalled in every one (except 1980 in which the team did not participate), 8 of the medals being gold.
