In golf, how many minutes does a player have to search for his ball before it must be declared lost?

Golfers are aware that they have 5 minutes to search for their golf ball – after that the ball is deemed lost and under the penalty of one stroke play your next shot “as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played”.
