Loss is 1000 Rs only

Seller is selling at zero profit so Rs 200 he got for the 200 Rs Item.
Only loss in the whole process is 1000 Rs fake currency which shopkeeper need to bear. Rest all transactions are countered.

I've given the same answer in one interview :)

The answer is 1800. Because he got 200 for the thing he sold so its cancelled. so he lost 800 to the lady, and he need to give 1000 to the shopkeeper..

2000

Goods - 200
Shop Keeper - 1000

"How much LOSS did the shopkeeper face ?"

A Lady (L) bought an item of Rs 100 from the Shopkeeper (C). She paid him through a 500 Rs Note. Realizing that he did not have change, the shopkeeper (C) got change for that note from another Shopkeeper (S) and paid Rs 400 to the Lady. After a few days, Shopkeeper (S) realized that the note is fake, and this railed at Shopkeeper (C) and took 500 Rs back from him.
So in this whole process how much money did Shopkeeper (C) loose in the end?
