A horse, a donkey and a camel were stolen.
Three suspects: Robert, Scott and Tommy. All we know that each person stole one animal, but we do not know who stole which. Here are the investigation statements.

Robert: Tommy stole the horse.
Scott: Tommy stole the donkey.
Tommy: They both were lying. I did not steal the horse or the donkey.

Later on, police found out =>

The man who stole the camel told a lie.
The man who stole the horse told the truth.

Robert: Camel
Scott: Horse
Tommy: Donkey

Starting from Tommy and do the logical deduction.

If Scott stole the camel, he was lying and Tommy did not steal the donkey. But in that case he would have stolen the horse, and have told the truth - but he could not have, since he claimed he stole neither horse nor donkey.

If Tommy stole the camel, he was lying; however, since he claimed to have stolen neither the horse nor the donkey, he would have been telling the truth.

If Robert stole the camel, he was lying and Tommy did not steal the horse. But in that case he could still have stolen the donkey, with Scott stealing the horse and telling the truth.

Conclusion: Robert took the camel, Tommy stole the donkey and Scott made off with the horse.

Charles: it was Edward
it wasn't Arnold

Derek: it was Charles

Edward: it was Derek
it wasn't Arnold

It was well known that each suspect told exactly one lie. Can you determine who stole the cake?
