1+4=(1*4)+1=4+1=5
2+5=(2*5)+2=10+2=12
3+6=(3*6)+3=18+3=21
then
8+11=(8*11)+8=88+8=96
Ans:96

I don't know how to appraise but your logic appears best solution.

Solution method 1 :-
1 + 4 = 5
2 + 5 = 12
3 + 6 = 21
Next odd number after 7 which is 9 is added to 12 to get the answer of the third addition 21.
4 + 7 = 32 (Next odd number after 9 which is 11 is added to 21 to get the next total.)
5 + 8 = 45 (Next odd number after 11 which is 13 is added to 32 to get the next total.)
6 + 9 = 60 (Next odd number after 13 which is 15 is added to 45 to get the next total.)
7 + 10 = 77 (Next odd number after 15 which is 17 is added to 60 to get the next total.)
8 + 11 = 96 (Next odd number after 17 which is 19 is added to 77 to get the next total.)
Solution method 2 :-
1 + 4 = 5
2 + 5 = 7 + previous total = 7 + 5 = 12
3 + 6 = 9 + previous total = 9 + 12 = 21
4 + 7 = 11 + previous total = 11 + 21 = 32
5 + 8 = 13 + previous total = 13 + 32 = 45
6 + 9 = 15 + previous total = 15 + 45 = 60
7 + 10 = 17 + previous total = 17 + 60 = 77
8 + 11 = 19 + previous total = 19 + 77 = 96
