Rs 500 in total.

Total money out: 100 (as credit) + 500 (fallout) => Rs 600
Total Money in: Rs 100 (as returned)

Net: 600 - 100 => Rs 500

Loss: Rs 500

I have a lost credit of Rs. 100 and a change of Rs. 400...In total I lost Rs. 500. At the end, I still have Rs. 500 note that fell from my pocket.

Ans is Rs1000
Felt from pocket=Rs500
Change back =Rs 400
Repay amount=Rs100
Total loss=Rs 1000

You are forgetting that you still have Rs.500 note that fell from the pocket. you lost only the credit and change amount.
