Stroke has a new indicator

S.T.R. + Tongue

If this life saving STROKE information is seen by ten people, we stand a chance of saving at least one life.  Once you’ve read this importsnt message, will you please pass this on? Will you send this along?

Blood Clots/Stroke - They Now Have a Fourth Indicator, the Tongue

STROKE: Remember the 1st Three Letters.....

S. T. R.

for STROKE IDENTIFICATION.

A Real Life Incident:

During a BBQ party, a woman stumbled and took a little fall. She stumbled back up and assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call the paramedics), but she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new pair of shoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of juicy BBQ chicken and ribs.  While she appeared a bit shaken up, Jane went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.

Jane's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital.  Unfortunately, later at 6:00 PM Jane passed away.  She had suffered a stroke while she was at the BBQ party.  Had anyone there at the BBQ party known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Jane would still be with us today.

Some don't die right away; they end up in a helpless, hopeless, painful, and frustrating condition instead, and sometimes for a very long time, helplessly suffering all along.  And this is not a good place to be for anyone . . .

I should know, ‘cause I’ve seen this first hand.  And there was no way I or anyone else there could help her in any way after the event - neither the family nor all the good doctors in attendance there at the time.

It only takes a minute to read this.

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours, he can most definitely totally reverse the effects of the stroke – totally reverse the effects!  He said the trick was in getting a stroke recognised, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours.

Now, that’s tough, especially if you have narry a clue how to recognize a STROKE.

E C O G N I Z I N G  A  T R O K E

  • Thank God for the easy sensible way to remember the '3' step-STR!
  • Sometimes STROKE symptoms are difficult to identify.
  • Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster.
  • Stroke victims may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognise the symptoms of a stroke and fail to take necessary action.

Now doctors say, a bystander can easily recognise a stroke by quickly asking these three simple questions:

  • S *Ask the individual to SMILE.
  • T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)

(For example: The Chicken Soup is good.)

  • R *Ask her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks,

CALL for urgent medical help immediately and describe the symptoms to the paramedics or the doctor / other attending ER staff at the hospital.

New Sign of a Stroke: Stick out Your Tongue!

NOTE: Another New 'sign' of a stroke identified is as follows:

  • Ask the victim to 'stick' out her tongue.  If the tongue is
    • 'crooked', and/or
    • if it goes to one side or the other,

that is also a clear indication of a stroke.

A cardiologist strongly urges that everyone who sees this message, to pass it on to everyone in your circles.  He confirms that if everyone who sees this message will share it with 10 other people; you are sure to at least Save One Life.
