Hi Guys, I myself am from a Northern India but I love speaking Kannada as I have learnt it over the last 15 years. I wanna tell everyone whose first language is not Kannada that learning Kannada is easy. If you speak Hindi then congratulations, learning Kannada will be extremely easy for you because the sentence formation in Kannada and Hindi are similar.
I will teach you some basic sentences here that you may use while talking to an Auto Rickshaw Driver:
1. If you wish to inform the Auto driver about your location just say : Anna ! Naanu Signal Hathira iddeeni which means Brother, I am near the Signal.
Naanu is I.
Hathira is near
Ideeni is am.
2. If you need to ask how much ? Just ask - Yeshtu ?
3. I need to go to Koramangala - Naanu Koramangala Hogubeku.
4. Drop me here - Nanage ille drop kodi.
5. Move little ahead - Swalpa munde hogi.
6. Take a U Turn - U Turn togoli.
7. Return the change - Change wapas kodi.
8. Keep the change - Change nim hathira irlee.
9. Come near the signal - Signal hathira banni.
10. I am waiting - Naanu wait madthaiddeeni.
Hope this help !
