Paris, France
These were the second Games in the modern series. Pierre de Coubertin, whose work established the Games, initially proposed that the 1900 Games be the first of the new era of Games, and in his home country of France. However, his proposal was amended at the 1st Olympic Congress in 1894 to a start in Greece instead and in 1896. The other options: St Louis 1904, London 1908.
