Sarah Ruhl
Ruhl uses the history of Passion Plays (which usually depict the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ), looking at the cultural events and their community at the time. Each play presents a different community as they prepare to perform their annual Passion Play - in the north of England during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, in Oberammergau, Germany at the start of World War II, and in Black Hills, South Dakota, USA during the Vietnam War.
