Professional woman of letters
Pizan served as a court writer, a poet and author, at the court of King Charles VI of France and several French dukes. Her works includes "The Book of the City of Ladies", a formal and direct response to Jean de Meun's popular "Roman de la Rose" and the misogyny of her day.
