To circumnavigate the Earth
The canoe set off from Oahu in Hawai'I and returned three years later, in 2017, having covered 47,000 nautical miles with stops at 85 ports in 26 countries. The vessel is overseen by the Polynesian Voyaging Society. Voyages before the circumnavigation include return sailings to Tahiti, New Zealand, Japan, Canada, the west coast of mainland United States, and through Micronesia and Polynesia.
