James II
He was also James VII of Scotland and James II of Ireland. The increasingly unpopular James was replaced by his daughter Mary and her Protestant husband William of Orange. William and Mary were invited by various British peers to start an invasion and did, James fled to France, and the British Parliament agreed to a joint monarchy, with William as king and Mary as queen.
