The Great Burkhan Khaldun Mountain
The mountain and its surrounding landscape lies in the central part of the Khentii mountains chain in north eastern Mongolia. Burkhan Khaldun Mountain is one of four that Genghis Khan (Chinggis Khaan) designated as sacred, as part of the official status he gave to the long standing shamanic traditions of mountain worship. The Gur-i Amir (or Guri Amir) mausoleum is the burial place of Timur (or Tamurlane).
