Between two parts of a joint
A meniscus is a crescent-shaped piece of cartilage that acts as a shock absorber inside a joint. In contrast to an articular disc, it only partly divides a joint cavity. In humans they are in the knee and wrist, and associated with the clavicle and the jaw.
