Swiss
Paracelsus (1493-1541) was part of the medical revolution of the Renaissance, when much traditional medical understanding was radically re-examined and/or discarded, and he was a pioneer in much of it. When he lectured he usually did so in the vernacular not in Latin, as was standard, because he wanted his lectures to be available to everyone.
