Kareena Kapoor recommended Fardeen Khan for Dev. Director Govind Nihalani had approached Amitabh Bachchan for his 1983 film Ardh Satya but the actor could not commit to it. Many years later, Nihalani approached him for yet another cop film, Dev and the Big B could not decline this time. This was the first time Amitabh Bachchan and Om Puri came on screen together after being in the indutry for over three decades.
