Is there any role of HSS while establishing voice call using IMS in lte network ?

I went through the details covered in following link but not found anything about HSS.

HSS will always be there in for User authentication, At the time of attach itself the VoLTE subscriber will first authenticate itself to EPC core where MME will forward authentication request/response to/from HSS.

Once UE is authenticated (validated from HSS as valid user) the VoLTE mobile user will be allowed to make default bearer for IMS signaling with QCI=5. The user will then be able to make a SIP register to the domain.com of IMS server. This IMS server will be accessible via IMS APN which will is configurable on UE by service operator.

So even in the case of VoLTE mobile user (who is using IMS backbone for VoLTE call) the initial authentication is still being validated using HSS database which is maintained by service provider.

There is another server called AAA connected with PCRF unit all of them receive HSS request about providing data bearer.

Is it possible HSS belongs to home network and S-CSCF belongs to visited network for the Cx interface ? If not then why ?

Does LTE network send any specific message to UE so that UE come to know network supports IMS call ?
Or
Does the LTE network broadcast information such as "it does not support IMS call" ?

Volte: How ip packets flows through the IMS network when voice call initiated by user. Will ip packets goes through the CSCF nodes or through which IMS nodes it will flow to reach the end user.
